Architectural metalwork, Queenstown

Outdoor fireplaces, fire pits and outdoor kitchens

We make outdoor fireplaces, fire pits, outdoor kitchens and BBQ units, and steel pergolas for homes around Queenstown and Central Otago. Freestanding steel fires on a lawn, built-in fireplaces in covered outdoor rooms, and clad chimneys that carry a house's interior fireplace outside are all work we do regularly.

Outdoor pieces are made from heavier steel plate and finished to handle the Central Otago climate: hot-dip galvanised and powder coated, corten, or raw steel left to weather. Outdoor kitchen benches and BBQ surrounds are usually stainless steel, with steel or brass cladding where it suits the house.

Design, fabrication and installation are all done in-house from our Frankton workshop. We model outdoor fires and pergolas in 3D so footings and fixings are set out before the landscaping is finished, and our own team installs them on site.

Questions we are often asked

How long does an outdoor fireplace or kitchen take?

Allow 4 to 6 weeks from approved shop drawings. We confirm the programme with the quote and set out footings and fixings early so the install fits the landscaping.

Can you work from our architect's or landscape designer's drawings?

Yes. We work from architect's and landscape drawings, model the piece in 3D and issue shop drawings for approval before fabrication.

What finishes last outdoors?

Hot-dip galvanised and powder coated steel, corten, stainless steel, and raw steel left to weather. We recommend a finish based on where the piece sits and how exposed it is.

Do you install?

Yes. Our own team installs outdoor fires, kitchens and pergolas, including fixing to concrete footings and coordinating with your landscaper. Gas and flue connections are by others, usually your gasfitter or fireplace installer, and we build the steelwork to suit their requirements.

What area do you cover?

Queenstown, Arrowtown, Wānaka and the wider Central Otago area.
