Steel staircases, balustrades and handrails

We fabricate steel staircases, stringers, handrails, balustrades and screens for residential and commercial projects. That includes folded plate stringers, open-tread stairs with timber or steel treads, wall-mounted and post-mounted handrails, flat bar and glass balustrades, and steel screens used as room dividers or stair enclosures.

Steel is usually blackened, patinated or powder coated. Handrails can be finished in brass or stainless where they need to stand up to daily use. Balustrade and stair work is cut on our fibre laser so posts, brackets and infill repeat accurately along the run.

We design, fabricate and install in-house from Frankton, Queenstown. Stairs and balustrades are modelled in 3D against the site measure before fabrication, and our own team fits them on site across Queenstown and Central Otago.

Questions we are often asked

How long does a steel staircase or balustrade take?

Allow 4 to 6 weeks from approved shop drawings. We confirm the programme with the quote and schedule the site measure, fabrication and install around the builder's programme.

Can you work from our architect's or engineer's drawings?

Yes. We work from architect's drawings and engineer's details, model the stair in 3D, and issue shop drawings for approval before fabrication. Where the stair or balustrade needs producer statements, we can organise the PS1 design statement and sign the PS3 for construction.

What finishes are available?

Blackened steel, patina, powder coat in any standard colour, brass handrails and stainless. Outdoor balustrades are usually hot-dip galvanised and powder coated.

Do you install?

Yes. Our own team installs the stairs, balustrades and handrails we make, including fixing to concrete, timber and steel structure.

What area do you cover?

Queenstown, Arrowtown, Wānaka and the wider Central Otago area.
